WHEN WE SPEAK OF DIET, WE REFER TO THE FOOD AND NUTRITION WE NEED TO FUEL OUR BODIES. THE WORD DIET HAS LONG BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH FAD EATING PLANS OR LIMITED CALORIE BASED STARVATION DIETS THAT ARE UNSUSTAINABLE AND GET YOU TO BOUNCE BACK TO UNHEALTHY EATING HABITS IN NO TIME.
Nutrition
We need to understand what our bodies need to function correctly. For too many years now, we use convenience over nutrition. But this needs to change. Food is a choice. It is 100% up to you what decision you make when deciding what to put into your body. You can elect to go to the fast-food drive-through or the healthier food chain options, which may be more expensive or take longer to prepare, but you need to decide what is worth your health in the long run.
For the love of food
We should not be eating for the sake of eating. Fresh food is far too good to have to stick to one kind of meal or fill up on empty calories. Sustainable eating habits can only be successful when there are variety and satiable foods included. We need to eat various foods to keep our bodies and minds happy with the choice, increase the opportunities for nutritious and vitamin-rich foods to enter our bodies, and keep us happy.

All the diets
Shock treatments, starvation diets, or any other fads that get promoted each year are not sustainable long term and can do more damage than good. Your body needs a blend of vitamins, minerals, and nutrition to function at optimal levels. The main focus of any diet is to understand what your objectives are. Do you want to eat for health or to shed a few pounds? It all starts with knowing where you are at this point, what the end goal is, and what the time frame is to reach that goal. Having measurable, achievable, and sustainable goals are crucial for your success.
Knowing how many calories you are consuming allows you to know how many you need to expend. If you are looking to lose weight, measuring the calories you consume is vital to understand what you need to spend, with added exercise if necessary. Once you know what foods “cost” from a calorie perspective, you quickly learn what foods are empty calories and what you would prefer to eat to succeed in your health goals. For example: Consuming one beer or one glass of wine may mean you need to go for a 30-minute jog to burn the sugar in that one beverage. When you know you have to make a decision whether to go for a run or skip the beer, knowledge can make it a lot a lot easier to decide.
Supplements, Vitamins, and Minerals
Usually, we can get all the vitamins and minerals our bodies need to function from our food if we eat a fully balanced diet of vegetables, fats, seeds, nuts, proteins, and carbohydrates. Unfortunately for most, we don’t track our plates, and the foods we are consuming are not rich enough in minerals to fuel our bodies effectively.
Ideally, we need to choose to supplement our diets with foods rich in omega’s, superfoods, and minerals so that we don’t have to take pills to balance out the deficit. If not, we can resort to supplementing with products that can help balance our bodies.
